The “Waterproof” Part
You’ve probably seen the “IP65” label and wondered what it actually means for you. Basically, it means we’ve sealed the guts of the machine. Dust can’t get in, and water jets won’t short out the electronics. We’ve focused heavily on the junctions and the lamp housing so you don’t have to worry about moisture hitting the terminals. One quick tip: because the unit is sealed tight, it needs a way to breathe. We use heavy-duty aluminum heat sinks to pull heat away from the internal parts. Just make sure you don’t cram the heater into a tight corner. Give it some space for airflow, or the safety cut-off will kick in and shut the whole thing down when it gets too hot.
How it Actually Works
Inside, there’s a tungsten filament tucked into a quartz glass tube. When the power hits, it emits shortwave radiation. Think of it like the sun. You don’t feel the air around you get hot when you step outside on a winter day—you feel the warmth hitting your face. That’s exactly what’s happening here. It penetrates deeper into your clothes and skin than those slower, longwave heaters. It’s fast. Really fast.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Before you start installing these, a heads-up on the power. These units pull a lot of current to get that instant heat, so you’ll need a dedicated circuit. Make sure your breakers can handle the total wattage, or you’ll be tripping them all day. Also, while they handle splashes and steam like a pro, they aren’t submarines. Don’t mount them too low in a shower area. If minerals from the water build up on the glass, the heat won’t get through as well. Give the glass a quick wipe every six months. It takes two minutes, and it keeps the heater performing like new.
